Spaceship Earth is an installation that explores ideas referring to “globalization” as seen through the filter of the 1960ʼs. Spaceship Earth is a body of work that includes video installations, sculptures and photographs. In 1969 R. Buckminster Fuller passionately encouraged the human race to re-examine the planet as a giant spaceship, “Spaceship Earth”, and all of us as astronauts. His suggestion of cultural co-dependency encourages an externalized view of the invisible earth. Fullerʼs optimistic view of a world working together as one society has since been sadly downgraded to yet another unfulfilled utopian vision. The photo series refers to the role Playboy Magazine of the 1950’s and 1960’s help to create the idea of a “globetrotter” or an “international playboy."
